The DAMA International Certified Data Management Program (CDMP) Certification is an indication of knowledge, skills and experience in the field of data management. A CDMP practitioner must have a minimum of 2–10 years of industry experience. They must also achieve a 70% pass in the Data Management Fundamentals exam and a 70% pass in two specialist exams.

All CDMP exams test a practitioner’s knowledge of the DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge version 2 (DMBoK2). The Data Management Fundamentals exam covers 14 topics including data governance, data quality, data security, metadata management and more.

According to DAMA, the CDMP certification provides professional development by ensuring well-rounded skills and capabilities and enabling focus on strengths and weaknesses. The certification also places an emphasis on ongoing development, commitment to ongoing participation in the industry and commitment to constantly improving quality in your own work.

Gretchen describes the value of the CDMP – Practitioner Level Certification Renewal in this way:

It’s an honor to continue to be among the ranks of the many data professionals who have earned this certification. As professions in data continue to grow and evolve, this certification, as well as the DAMA organization, are important tools to maintain and share our knowledge.
